Teal Pumpkins: Allergy-Friendly Trick-or-Treating, Explained
A teal pumpkin on a porch means the house offers non-food treats (stickers, glow sticks, small toys) so kids with food allergies can join in. The idea comes from the Teal Pumpkin Project run by Food Allergy Research & Education (FARE).
How to take part
Put out a bowl of non-food treats, keep it separate from the candy, and place a teal pumpkin or sign where kids can see it. When you pledge your street on Trick or Treat Hours, choose “Non-food treats (teal pumpkin)” and your street's count shows how many teal homes it has.
Check the candy anyway
Even with teal treats, check every item at home before kids eat anything, and throw out anything opened or unlabeled.
