How Trick or Treat Hours works
Locals pick the streets. Families update them live on Halloween night.
1. Streets locals name most
Every street links to its sources. More independent sources, higher rank.
2. What we check before a street is listed
A single Reddit post is a lead, not proof. Streets named by different people year after year rank higher, and on Halloween night live reports are the final check. Pledges from neighbors only show as a count per street.
3. One tap on Halloween night
Reports are tied to a street, never a house, and vanish after 45 minutes. A count only shows once reports come from 2 different internet connections (3 for “out of candy” and “too crowded”). No account, no location stored.
How it works: questions
How does Trick or Treat Hours pick the best trick-or-treat streets?
Streets are ranked by how many independent sources name them: local news, city records, parent groups and Reddit. Official sources like city permits and parade organizers count first, and a single post is a lead, not proof.
Does Trick or Treat Hours show house addresses?
No. Trick or Treat Hours lists streets, never houses: no addresses, no GPS and no names.
How do live candy reports work on Halloween night?
One tap reports a street as giving candy, out of candy, full-size bars, teal pumpkin or too crowded. Reports are tied to a street, vanish after 45 minutes, and a count only shows once reports come from 2 different internet connections (3 for “out of candy” and “too crowded”).
Do I need an account or an app?
No. There's no account and no app, and no location is stored.
